his is a little known scientific fact: if you smoke copious cigars, you turn into steak. I know, it sounds weird, but try it. Evolving from a cigar shop, Macabi is now a steakhouse for the on-the-rocks set of diners. A South Miami bovine destination, it offers cow fare in all the standard cuts and at surprisingly reasonable prices.
If you don't dig on the king of meat, you can opt for customary alternatives (i.e. chicken and seafood), but when a resto has a food in its title, your decision should be easy (see Taco Bell). With a well-stocked rail and decent wine selection, Macabi does a solid job of lubricating your dinner. Laid out in a well-appointed room, with clean lines, and wood and leather aplenty, Macabi is a worthy but typical steakhouse. -S.T.
