Paul Kohlie’s just-opened club, Karma Restaurant and Bar will be his destiny to garner a new breed of clientele in the West Island (Pierrefonds) looking for authentic Indian cuisine in a non-traditional modern atmosphere without going downtown.

The dining spot Karma is a large affair with a terrace offering up a lighter and brighter space than the typical Indian restaurant. With its slick design and an unusually sophisticated take on regional Indian cuisine – like the signature Chicken Dal Makhani (butter chicken) and Lamb Saag Waala – boneless cubes of lamb prepared with fresh spinach – Karma is clearly confident in its offerings.

Also on tap is the unlikely addition of a DJ Thursdays to Saturday. Non-smoking. Now Open.

I was really looking forward to trying this place but was disappointed. We were a group of 15. Most of the food arrived warm except for the naan bread, it was cold and stale. Disappointing, as I love naan bread. Vegetarian dishes were pricey but good. Meat dishes were bad. Chicken was not boneless and fatty and over-priced. Waiters insisted that we accept 1 bill and split it amonst ourselves, which made paying a nightmare. I would not make a return vist. Plenty of other great Indian restos in Montreal at a reasonable price.

Great ambiance. Awful food - poor quality. Below average service. Waiters/waitresses could learn some courtesy.

Don't know what the other reviewer were talking about, Karma is by far on eof thebest Indian restaurants in montreal, appart from TAJ.
The value is great, adn it is lovely to see an open concept indian kitchen, almost unheard of, the owqner is always present adn the staff is well dressed adn curtious.
For those of you who like it spicy, just ask for the level of heat that you want, all dishes can be made from mild to stupid hot.
Also they have London Pride adn ESB in big bottles, if youlike Indian go to this place , you wont be disapointed.

I thought it was ok. Its hyped for nothing. The atmosphere is nice, but the food is less than average. For they price they charge, you can get better value for your buck.
