Owned by Luigi Tullio and the brother Gino and Fernando Masci, Il Gabbiano is being touted as one of the best Italian restaurants in the city. Sit inside or enjoy a meal on the patio with a view of Biscayne Bay. Porcini ravioli in champagne sauce with black truffles and parmesan cheese is decadent; and Pollo alla Valdostana improves mundane chicken breasts to chicken stuffed with foie gras pate, fontina, prosciutto, and wild mushrooms. Not to mention the hunk of parmesan, plate of brushetta, and fried zucchini in a garlicky, spicy olive oil, with a basket of sourdough served to you when you sit down. Plenty of entertainment abounds with the restaurant's owners preparing pasta dishes in the middle of the place. –C.S.
