Have you ever noticed that there are a lot of attractive women on Miami Beach? Of course you have; if you live there, you've probably seen them either decked out in a bikini or dolled up to go to a club. Same goes for men; there's more than enough tanned and toned dudes to make any regular guy feel uncomfortable. The beachers don't get their figures from eating seven steaks a day (they aren't programmers). No, when they get hungry, they need something healthy. Giardino Gourmet Salads offers the meal of choice for those that want to maintain their figure but satisfy their hunger.

Can you guess what they sell there? Salads, and lots of them. 31 of them, to be exact. The salad creations are all made from garden-fresh greens and fruits and homemade dressings. They're also made-to-order and pre-mixed which allows you to avoid tossing your own salad. Believe me, you don't want to be tossing your own salad. Consult Chris Rock if you don't trust me.

You'd be surprised at how much variety you can get from a place that serves almost entirely salad. It helps that there are 31 salads to choose from. Some are entirely traditional – we've all had a Caesar or Greek Salad – but some are much more imaginative and inspired. The Indian Salad combines mixed greens and cabbage with peas, golden raisins, sliced almonds, dry coconut with tahini curry dressing and sesame croutons. The Tropical Salad includes mixed greens, tomatoes, cucumber, dried fruits, mixed nuts with mango poppy dressing & sweet bread croutons. These are just a few of the many choices.

In case none of these appeal to you (and one is bound to), you can exercise your creative bone and combine any four items with a dressing. You've also got the choice of adding a scoop of chicken, turkey, or crab. Sometimes you need some meat. And, if you aren't even feeling salad, they're more than happy to toss it into a wrap or onto a baked potato. Salads come in three sizes: piccolo for $6.50, basta for $8.75, and grande $11. Considering the small one is a meal in-and-of-itself, those prices aren't outrageous.

Grab one of these Giardino bad boys and you'll be all set for swimsuit season. And, since this is Miami Beach, it's always swimsuit season. You'd better get over there.

First time: Tried the Greek Salad. Really salty, and that's from somebody who likes lots of salt. The lentil soup was nice though. Not sure this is worth the hype or another trip there, out of the way for me.
