lthough he’s known as a supplier to many of Miami’s seafood restaurants, Jim Hanson also has an eatery of his own and while its located on a dull stretch of highway is nothing to write home about, Captain Jim's Seafood Restaurant serves some of the freshest seafood in Miami.
While Jim doesn't try to wow his crowd with preparation or presentation, that the food is caught fresh daily by his fleet of fishing boats (which supply the retail shop adjacent to the restaurant) make this little gem a sure destination for seafood aficionados.
Scan the retail shop and if something catches your eye, you can have it cooked and served to you at the restaurant next door. Many of the menu selections are deep-fried so if it’s a light meal you’re after, you may do better to stop in at one of the high end restaurants Hanson supplies. Menu items range from a delicious fish dip ($5), conch fritters ($5.99) and, of course, shrimp and fish prepared a multitude of different ways. The Captain also has a great sushi bar and you can munch on pepper crab salad and crackers while you wait.
