his French and Italian inspired restaurant is a mom and pop operation through and through. But no one seems to mind- not a bad thing has been written about them. Owned by a chef and manager duo of Claude Postel, and his wife Callie, this tiny eatery is always packed with neighborhood types from the Design District. The space is simple: black and cream, with one wall decorated with photos of neighborhood houses. The menu changes every day, so refer to the chalkboard. Most of the time, expect escargot, roast salmon with mashed potatoes and ratatouille, excellent dark and crispy fries, and rice pudding. The menu is absurdly well priced, with mains that arrive with veg and starch starting at just 8 bucks. Get there early or face a more limited selection- items sells out fast. –C.S.

1 Reader Reviews | I ate there last month. Nice space overall, but nowhere near as polished as it was when it first opened.
