If my kindergarten level Italian serves me right, Bambino Grande means Big Baby. Now, this could be a sign of good health as in, “She had a big beautiful baby boy!” or a sign of cowardice and general lack of balls as in “Take a chance for once, you big baby.” Chances are Johnny Pascucci’s new Italian eatery plans to turn its guests into big babies. Big because of the carb-full hearty authentic Italian dishes, and the service will keep you as content as a baby with a breast to its mouth. Doesn’t sound half bad, does it?

For a writer who had high hopes of pumping out the next “Great Gatsby” upon his move to South Beach, Pascucci’s turn to the culinary business must be a shock. He does seem to have a knack for it though. The portions are monstrous and priced under $12 a plate. The sky-high tower of eggplant parmesan compliments the homemade tomato cream soup to a tee and apparently, according to Pascucci, his meatballs are the best in Miami.

So drop in to get taken care of like that time you had Strep in Grade Two. Everybody likes to be treated like a Bambino Grande every once in a while. This bambino is only two weeks old. –J.T.
