C nfortunately, Coral Gables is not as rich in Indian restaurants as it is in seafood restaurants and this could make things extremely easy or extremely difficult for the only one in the area, Anokha.
The impressive menu features dishes from the country’s many regions. Chappal Kebobs (from the North) are delicately spiced lamb patties served atop mouth-watering nan bread. From the south come a number of vegetarian dishes such as spiced spinach and paneer ravioli. One of the house specialities, Chota Murgh, is a slow-cooked Cornish hen served in a special curry sauce made with caramelized onions, tomatoes, yogurt and spices.
Anokha must perform the difficult task of serving traditional favorites that appeal to both seasoned veterans and newcomers to the food. With a mantra that reads: "A guest is equal to God and should be treated as such," the fare at Anokha is definitely worth checking out. -L.D.
