Tired of going to restaurants that offer food from only one country? How lazy is that. Even Denny’s offers spaghetti, nachos, and cheeseburgers. That’s three different countries on the Denny’s menu, which is practically world tour compared to the minimal variation found in most restaurants. Why be forced to choose food from only one country when you have a meal? That’s almost racist. Enter Alta Cocina, a global fusion restaurant that offers food from everywhere on the globe.

Husband and wife chef team Juan Mario Maza and Vani Maharaj prepare dishes from their native Guatemala and Trinidad as well as global dishes that they perfected while serving under celebrity chef Michelle Bernstein at Azul’s at the Mandarin Oriental. This incredibly efficient multi-national cuisine team can promise a unique and exciting meal for anyone who enters their restaurant. If you can’t find anything that you’d like to eat out of the vast selection of dishes they offer, you probably don’t even like food. Get an I.V. food hater!

The vast menu includes items as varied as stuffed chicken with chorizo and creamed corn rice, curried chicken, and Asian quail, plus a stunning dessert lineup that serves up items like molten chocolate cake. It’s a bistro-quality entrees with desserts straight out of a specialty bakery. Sure, nothing on the menu is exactly reinventing the wheel when it comes to contemporary cuisine. But when food is prepared this well, it’s hard to complain. So if you love food and you live in Miami, you owe it to yourself to try Alta Cocina. If you live on the other side of the country the restaurant probably doesn’t warrant a cross-country trip on its own, but what does? I mean, we’re not talking about a Hooters here (note the irony).-P.B.
