know, I can’t believe it either – Miami
actually has a micro brewery. Sure the city boasts a night scene that’s more fun than a barrel of monkeys and a plethora of swanky velvet-rope lined clubs but it sure is nice to know that there’s something for everyone else. One of the oldest bars in Miami, the Abbey first opened its doors in 1995 (well, it's not really that old) to a laid-back, quality-beer-loving crowd.
All recipes are created by Raymond Rigazio and brewed at the Indian River Brewing Company in Melbourne Florida. Their stouts and lagers have garnered quite a reputation in the area – Father Theordore’s Stout won the Best Florida Beer Award in 2006. Thick, dark and delicious, you'll immediately renounce those bottles of cheap domestic in your fridge.
The house brew, dubbed Immaculate IPA is a mix of Midwest malt and Pacific Northwest hops, deliciously smooth and refreshing. Who doesn’t love a finely crafted brew? –L.D.
