Come October 2009, Calgary is going to get a lot more fashionable. The brand new 151,000 square-foot Holt Renfrew flagship store will not only inject a bit of haughty pretension into the otherwise ludicrously humble city, but will also establish the first Calgary outpost of Hermès, the legendary French luxury brand, world-famous for its way way wayyyyy too expensive Kelly handbags.
Hermès will have its own 130-square meter boutique located within the department store designed by RDAI, the Parisian interior architecture agency that designs Hermès stores all over the world (it's nice to have a specialty). This will be Hermès' fourth Canadian store, after outposts in Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver. – R.T.
