As one of Calgary's go-to party places, it's a shame Bookers has closed it doors. Luckily, the minds behind the post-festival hotspot know business, and know that there is much business to gain during the Calgary Stamepede. For the ten day cowboy celebration the doors will reopen, welcoming every rodeo dancer to get a taste of the flavour. The main restaurant will accommodate around 550 people, comfortably, while the outside tent will take care of the remaining folks (up to 350 people).

Bookers and the city of Calgary continue to quarrel over construction details. The process has already cost the restaurant over $350 000, and the battle over Bookers main entrance development has not sat well with the longstanding patrons.

Due to the ongoing renovations, the only way to get into the restaurant is by leaving the downtown core and entering the 4 St. flyover(instead of the original Riverfront Ave. side),which is more of a dusty mess then anything. Calgarians have become used to vacant lots and industrial junk lining the streets, and it doesn't look like projects are speeding up any time soon.

The city has yet to confirm an opening date, and although the restaurant was expected to stay open after the ten day Stampede festivities, this is no longer the case.

All we have to say is you all better make the most out of those ten days, sucking back all the grub you can possibly handle because who knows when this joint will actually be back on a regular serving schedule. Bruce is probably rolling over in his grave right now. Sometimes the city can be a real buzz kill. -K.K.
