The original culinary adventure is fairly ambitious for Calgary, contributing to the buzz about the main-level resto-lounge. The lounge, which is equipped to accommodate even the largest of groups, is already luring in the suits, quasi-power brokers and romancers while the dining room coddles a mature, moneyed crowd. Other than the seemingly requisite flatscreens, the lounge level has a few private rooms that look out onto the booths surrounding the bar, and low casual seating at the front of the restaurant that invites guests to come in and enjoy cocktails (arm-twisting is unnecessary). The 11,000 square-foot restaurant also showcases an open-air balcony and a private dining area.
The service is pampering, but it is all of Seven's accouterments wrapped into one global package that makes it a concept for today.

17 Reader Reviews | Simply rating the location, food presentation and wine selection, I might have given SEVEN a 3.5. However, the service was terrible. We had a 'power business dinner', 8 in the party. Drinks and meals were mixed up / messed up. No water refills without asking. It took forever to get dessert menus and the actual desserts (also mixed up). Coffee? Cold. But I will give then another chance. Could just be growing pains.

I am also underwhelmed by the cool, unmemorable decor, but that is not why I ultimately go out to eat.
A friend and I sat at the bar and got really slow service from a very busy bartender. The drinks were excellent but the food only okay.
The duck wontons could have used some crispy skin, five spice powder and scallions, as it were they were mushy and bland, the steak and mushroom soup was glorious - the best in the city easily. The entrees were completely not memorable and given the cost clearly not worth it.
I would return for drinks and appetizers but would not make a meal out of it.

One of the worst meals I've ever had in a "high end" Calgary restaurant. The service was amateur at best with expensive wines being served in completely inappropriate glasses and a basic inability to even serve water to everybody at the table. The food came out cold and was not what the menu had indicated. Our entire table commented that they have had better meals at Earl's. Food was overpriced and very poor quality. This place is surviving on location and ambience alone.

We have been to Seven 3 times and have been pleased with each experience. The food I have tried has been just excellent, my fav being the Surf 'N' Turf sushi appetizer. The service was great, very attentive, I love their Grape Vodka. Would definately recommend and go back!

I love the size of Seven, I went there with a large group and we didn't feel cramped at all. Our server was excellent, friendly, and not at all snobby like servers at similar establishments. I also love that Seven is an upscale dining/lounge experience but it is not at all intimidating. The crowd was a good mix as well.

Modern goodness.
The staff is good, friendly, knowledgeable and ensure that you are receiving proper attention with out constantly interrupting.
The Menu is what I'd expect from a place that is upscale lounge/restaurant. Several steaks, a pasta dish or two, a fish dish, a chicken dish, and several different types of appetizers.
The prices are reasonable, after all your eating dishes prepared by chefs, not high school kids at Earls. (so entrees in the 20's, steaks in 30 - 40)
The main restaurant part is in the back side, so you can enjoy your meal and crowd scan, without feeling like you are eating at a night club.
Then move over the main lounge area. The music is good, loud enough to cover side conversations, but not soo loud your yelling into each others ear to be heard.
The crowd runs the gambit from 20 somethings to 40yr olds. With the primary being late 20's to mid 30's.
So the summation. I'd primarily go there to drink and socialize, but have no problem also going for dinner and drinks with friends or dates.

Atmosphere and decor is good. Food is not great. A $46.00 Steak & Lobster is a rip off. The restaurant is trying to be a classy one but it has still a long way to go to compare them with other establishments.

Nothing but praise for Jeff and this creation. Unlike Kaitlin we didn't judge the restaurant based on the clientele and have had many wonderful experiences there. Food has always been exceptional, service has always been top-notch and they have the friendliest staff you could ask for. They were polite and professional. The layout isn't perfect for all occaisions but it works good for lunches, supper and when we've been there in the evening it is as busy as any other place and still functions. It's a nice change and we look forward to going there many more times and I'm glad Kaitlin didn't enjoy it there because that just leaves and extra table available for us!

The lounge is a super awkward layout and realllllllly cramped when it's busy. Tjhe reported 3.5 million may have made it attractive but not the most functional place in the world. I think they spend more money on the bathrooms than the actual restaurant/lounge. The bathrooms have a fireplace and are quite cool but were soooo dirty, out of soap and paper towel was strewn everywhere. It was gross.
The clientele is ridiculously pretentious. Males...Think super cocky typical Calgary Oil and Gas guys that think they're hotter than they are, drink way too much and are just generally ignorant. and Women... that are desperate, ex-barstaffers and/or gold diggers with low self-esteem and fake confidence. But if you like a good chuckle it's good for people watching.
The food was not bad but WAYYYYYYY overpriced and the service we had was awful. Our server came to our table maybe 3 times the whole time we were there and it wasn't even very busy. The staff seem more concerned with groping eachother and doing shooters than offering any service at all... good or bad.
I give it a few months before interest in this place fizzles out and it's on to the next trendy new hangout.
