o, this is not a review for the ever popular (and extremely difficult, in my opinion) video game, Halo. As much as I love honing my sniping skills, eating a well-aged steak oozing with fatty, rich flavour, and sipping a fine Bordeaux is much more my thing.
Moving forward: steakhouse-style food meets country-chic at Halo Restaurant and Lounge in Canyon Meadows Plaza. The main floor explores a hyper-masculine world with a warm and comforting décor that still manages to lure a respectable Abercrombie & Fitch crowd, while the second floor strives for more of an upscale lounge feel.

Once seated, you'll immediately be offered a loaf of bread with herbed butter; not a revolutionary move but still a nice touch indeed. For starters, Halo serves stuffed mushrooms, escargots, spanakopita, prawns, and shrimp cocktails.
The moderately priced menu runs $8 - $10. For mains, Halo - a steakhouse at heart - offers a solid variety of suitably enormous cuts and a good seafood selection. A prime contender, the tuna steak is seared lightly and served with wasabi, veggies, and rice pilaf ($25). If you're in a beefier mood (should I feel dirty writing that?) try the buffalo steak. Also, baby back ribs and rack of lamb are available for bovine-ducking carnivores.
Desserts aren't the strength here, but there’s always the decent fried ice-cream. It seems absolutely crazy, but it’s actually quite tasty if you’re an ice-cream lover. Drizzled with chocolate, it’s a great dessert to share for an adventurous ending to a meal. Doesn't dinner sound better than video games? -S.B.
