Promising a laid back, sexy and secure place to club, Tonix just seemed to be a roll over of its predecessor and didn’t live up to the ultra lounge/ house party atmosphere they had bellowed from the roof top. The lower level’s “ultra lounge” was closed to accommodate storage needs (perhaps extra building materials?) and the only resemblance the main level had to a house party was the renovations commencing while the DJ pumped out top 40 tracks to no one on the dance floor. At that point in the evening, it became almost a running joke to see what else I had actually RSVP’d for.

Suffice it to say, trying to open a club before its ready to wow the crowd leaves RSVP’d guests sitting in your under-renovations, recycled club looking bored and longing for action. Unfortunately Tonix has missed the mark for a trendy upscale private club and should perhaps start thinking about accepting walk-ins. Otherwise the Hi-Fi club is right next door. -K.M.
