re you a caffeine junkie who can’t get out of bed without two cups of a joe, a red bull, and an injection of pure liquid caffeine straight to the heart? If so, today will be one of those special days that’s you’ll remember for the rest of your life. Caffe Artigiano is coming to Calgary.
What’s that you ask? Only the finest coffee shop known to man. This coffee is so good you’ll swear that the beans were crushed by the hand of Jesus Christ and warmed by the heart of the Virgin Mary. The place features a high-end Clover coffee machine, which is considered by coffee aficionados to be one of the best machines in the world. Plus the beans are going to be imported from a famous estate in Panama that has been named the producer of the world’s best coffee at the Specialty Coffee Association of America’s 2007 Roasters Guild Cupping Pavilion Competition. So we’re talking some seriously high-class cups of joe here. It won’t be a cafe for coffee amateurs, so be prepared. The owners are already bragging that they will be the first place in town to sell a $15 cup of coffee (the Hacienda La Esmeralda Especial). If you’re tired of paying those ridiculously low Starbucks prices, it’s finally time for you to step up your game.
There are less expensive but no less caffeinated options at Caffe Artigiano as well. Their real draw rests in their expert latte art. Though Calgary is rife with great coffee peddlers, none can best Artigiano (meaning artisan of craftsman) for caffeine beverage craftsmanship.
Expect a mark-of-the-exemplary buttery film to strap itself to the roof of your mouth (that's a good thing, I swear). With fine soups, salads, and sandwiches (try the smoked turkey breast panino) for quick-bite satisfaction, the little shop even excels in the nosh department.
If eight-layer, five-chocolate layer cakes and frilly Martha Stewart petit fours are what you have in mind, Caffè Artigiano won’t do. Artigiano is about unadulterated dessert basics and a great cup of joe. –MBO

10 Reader Reviews | My favorite coffee place. The staff are very personable and the lattes are the BEST!! Only complaint is that it gets quite hot when sitting inside.

I am due to have coffee there today Oct. 16, looking forward to it, especially after hearing the coffee beans were crushed by Jesus and warmed by the heart of Mary. I didn't know they were baristas, too!

Lighten up. I am Roman Catholic and I found it amusing, if you can't laugh at your own religion you are part of the greater problems facing society today.

Artigiano's is the finest of the finest available in this country. A high quality product, presentation, service and environment. One must pay a little more for something that's not run of the mill, but that's life. The only place that comes close in Calgary is Bumpy's if you prefer that down home feel. Artigiano's is a gift that one should take advantage of, even if just for an occasional special treat. Don't go, and you'll be missing out on a special slice of life. The quality doesn't deviate if you find yourself in downtown Vancouver across from the art gallery, or in West Van.I guess you can tell I liked it, a lot.

I am a fan of Artigiano and enjoy the coffee immensely, however I must add that is completely unnecessary and distasteful for you to use the name of Jesus in your promotional views. You obviously have no "Fear of God" in your heart and no respect for the religion of others, please have some consideration in future, if not for yourself then at least for others.

I find the Jesus and Mary comparision disrespectful

I lived in Vancity all my life and this is definitely the best coffee ever. Moved here to Calgary last year and no coffee shops impressed me. Maybe I will consider Calgary a city now instead of a Big Town. It's growing up.
