o you remember the post- Bosom Buddies years when Tom Hanks played the smarmy smart-ass in a plethora of films? It was long before he became the new Jimmy Stewart. He should do another one of those flicks. Have you seen Volunteers? Damn, it's brilliant. He plays a rake that accidentally joins the Peace Corps and travels to Thailand. It was the first time that I ever heard of Bangkok. Did it make me hungry? Not particularly. Though, the first time I heard of Bankoknoi I did hear my stomach growl. Serving traditional Thai fare to North East Calgarians, expect affordable grub, solid service, and a non-fancy, comfortable environment. -S.T.

2 Reader Reviews | Despite the previous reviewer saying that it is the best Thai restaurant in Vancouver, this little restaurant on Center St N in Calgary is the best Thai restaurant that I have been to. It appears to be family owned and operated and the food, service, and setting has a friendly polite Thai charm to it that it transplants you to Northern Thailand. Keep it a secret because it may not be able to handle more customers and maintain its excellence.

Bangkoknoi Thai Restaurant: I don't care what anybody says, it's the best Thai cuisine in Vancouver - u go elsewhere it ain't as good. I went to Bangkoknoi monthly for over 5 years, it's a feast. U don wanna eat adventurously, dont go. Watch out for the most spectacular GREEN CURRY… anything! Wash it all down with Thai Singha beer and you've gotta scintillating evening.
