espite the fact that Canada was in the process of being discovered during the French renaissance, that didn’t stop a turn of the 20th century developer from replicating the white terracotta tiled architectural style. Now a B&B, this is one of the most unique buildings in Montreal. Walls adorned with cherubs, fish and a lion façade, guests are transported to a period when art and architecture worked in harmony with math and the sciences. The rooms and setting evoke a variety of moods, and the reasonably priced rates make this hotel the perfect venue for artistic inspiration. Hole up for a week in the Fall to craft that depressing tragic bestseller, or embrace the fresh fertility of Spring to inspire a Harlequin romance. Regardless, who else can say they’ve stayed at a registered architectural landmark?
