The old Holiday Inn on King had a contentious appearance. Conversely maligned and praised by barstool architecture pundits, the hotel's façade is unarguably striking. Regardless of its exterior, its innards never made much of an impression. Hotel giant, Hyatt, aims to change that perception.
Lately, the King Street giant has received a massive rejuvenation and revamp, as well as a re-branding. Now re-branded at the Hyatt Regency, it sports a new look, care of Toronto's Hirschberg Designs.
Now much more modern, the renovation spans all 394 guestrooms. Along with the still-sweeping views, the re-imagined rooms feature new beds and state-of-the art technology (i.e. plasma televisions, high-speed internet access, etc.).
Like the rooms, all public spaces have enjoyed large-scale facelifts. Thematically, the lobby focuses on the elements (i.e. light, water, and fire). Atop the roof, an outdoor fire pit and freshwater pool await.
With a food-first emphasis, new restaurant, King Street Social Kitchen and Bar, will officially debut on March 3rd. In its midst, a show kitchen will allow diners to see their food prepared before their eyes (make sure that they wash their hands). Also, an 18-foot firewall will keep things hot while reflective pools cool the experience down.
