 The Viceroy Opens on Brickell
Sensual, pulsing, hot décor, with beautiful SoBe trendies and in-the-know day trippers have already found their way to the Viceroy Miami. Designer Kelly Wearstler has left her imprint all over the just-opened hotel, set within the ten-acre Icon Brickell enclave. A genuinely regal resort destination, hotel reigns at the center of the urban resort, with residential towers, two parks, a 28,000-square-foot spa and fitness center, and a two-acre outdoor living room.
The Viceroy is proof that you can make art out of mixing and matching East Asian accents and Miami's own rich ambience. The 168 residentially appointed rooms and suites are all individually designed with wet bars and kitchens, but with the in-house Signature Restaurant, Club 50 and Café Icon, you won’t be using that latter much. Elsewhere, you'll find everything from ironic chintz drapes to sleek armoires and modern armchairs. Then there's the pool. A 300-foot long, 50th floor pool - the longest infinity-edge pool in Florida. With other accouterments, like a 50-person hot tub, puffy couches, a poolside Café Icon, an outdoor fireplace fronted by a stunning mosaic “rug,” a whimsical life-size chess set, this could be the makings of a very lavish and potentially hazardous round of laps.
In the spa vein, there is a 28,000 square-foot urban spa, offering 10 treatment rooms, a 5,000 square-foot water lounge and a screening room. You can enjoy a fresh dousing of mud and cucumbers or something a little more specialized. Pricey, but for good reason: rooms are sizeable but not intimidating and the staff knows its way around the cocktail card and the chef's tasting menu at the signature restaurant and terrace overlooking the pool deck, to round-the-clock guestroom dining. If this Brickell hotel spa isn’t the stuff of a globetrotter’s sweet dreams, I don’t know what is.
