hen it comes to summer travel in Canada, Montreal is always an inevitable hotspot. Beyond the fact that the city boasts some of the most entertaining and exciting summer festivals in the country (including the prestigious Just For Laughs comedy festival and the less prestigious Hot Air Balloon Festival), it's also a beautiful city for maxing and relaxing. There are certainly a variety of high-end hotel options available, but quite often these experiences are inevitably formulaic. There is, however, one place in the city that makes you feel like an actual Montreal resident.
Bohemia Loft, located on Rue Saint-Denis, is a fully furnished loft apartment rented out as a hotel space. Initially, it was created to feel as if a friend hooked you up with his two-bedroom apartment for the weekend. The space is a monstrous 1,800 sq.ft., with amenities such as an efficiency kitchen, refrigerator, JenAir stove, microwave, small countertop oven, coffee maker, table and glassware, central heating/air conditioning, cable TV with DVD player and surround sound, a telephone with 3hrs of free long distance, a continental breakfast and other surprises.
Rest assured, aesthetics were take into serious consideration; furniture in it was handpicked by the owner of a nearby furniture store, created to emulate pages ripped from an interior design magazine. And even though you're forgoing a standard hotel for this special loft set up, you'll still have access to some delightful amenities like an air port shuttle, maid service, an experienced concierge (who can get you everything from hockey tickets to groceries) and some luxury car rentals.
Look out the window and you'll discover an amazing view of Plateau Mont-Royal (the Montreal equivalent of the West Village), packed with French, Italian, Indian, Ethopian restaurants and bars - filled with local beauties - and high-end fashion outlets. If you demand broadening your horizons and experiencing some intellectually stimulating attractions during your trip (what is wrong with you?), then you'll be pleased to discover that The Montreal Museum of Modern Art, Historic Old Montreal and Place des Art (home of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra) are all a short walk away.

Before you get too excited about Bohemia Loft, you should remember that places like this don't come cheaply or easily. A night here will set you back $250 (there's a two-night minimum on weekends and a 3-night minimum during peak seasons), five days will cost $1070, and a seven day stay will mean a bill of $1,400. For hotel comparison, these rates are reasonable. You will also want to book in advance, because this place gets snatched up quick. Check out the official website for more info and online booking forms. –PB
