re you getting tired of minimalist interior design? I know I am. There’s no place for it in New York. This city is all about being big, expensive, loud, and aggressive. Minimalism is none of these things. It was cool for a bit because any place adopting this design was thumbing it’s nose at the norm, but the novelty wore off long ago. Now it’s just boring. I’m bored just by thinking about it. Enter the Duane Street Hotel, a new Tribeca location that is bringing some much needed godliness and unnecessary spending back to New York City. God bless you noble soldiers.
The hotel is designed to recreate one of the most beloved aspects to New York real estate for visiting tourists: loft living. That’s right, book a room here and you’ll feel like you’ve rented a loft apartment straight out of Martin Scorsese’s short film in New York Stories (minus all the paint and infidelity of course). The designs are pure Ikea pastel cool. You’ll feel like a hip young professional trying to make it in the big scary city just by staying here.
There are also in-room spa services as well as an onsite spa, which all but guarantees a satisfyingly relaxing stay. A short stroll downstairs will direct you to the ‘becca Restaurant, a place that is every bit as cool and pretentious as the title suggests. Snack on some prosciutto benedict for breakfast or kobe burgers with rosemary fries for lunch. By the time you leave this place you’ll be holier-than-thou New Yorker who shuns anyone who lives outside of the Big Apple. In other words, you’ll be just like a character from Seinfeld.
