    Hyatt Regency Calgary The Hyatt Regency Calgary looms over downtown in all its swarthy splendor. Most of the rooms look out onto the mountains, which are a peaceful sight to wake up to, but the rooms needed a bit of an update.

    In 2009, after nine years in business, the 355 rooms were given a $5 million reno. The formerly orange and yellow-washed walls were replaced with shades of royal blue, dark brown and burgundy. It's about time. The Hyatt was built in 2000, not 1984. Other updates include brand new furniture and furnishings, 37 inch LCD HD TVs (full words are a thing of the past), and iHome docking stations.

    The Hyatt has already gained a few Calgary records seeing that it has the only full-service spa in Calgary and it contains the city’s largest boardroom. It also has a 24-hour gym (refitted with state of the art equipment) for those of you looking for an adrenaline rush in the wee hours of the morning. The pool and hot tub are state-of-the-art with a sauna conveniently located in the same vicinity. There is also a new yoga program in the hotel that services the public as well.

    The local attractions include the World of Science Museum, Olympic Park and the Calgary Zoo. The beautiful locations of Banff and Lake Louise are only an hour away.

    The Hyatt is set up for business conferences. It is attached to the TELUS Convention Centre. Its meeting facilities have even won awards. And the catering service by Personal Preference will take good care of you and yours.

    The Calgary Hyatt is a hub of downtown Calgary and has everything anyone visiting could ever ask for. Except maybe a teleporting machine. –J.T. with R.T.
