hat won’t Donald Trump put his name on? I kid you not, I think I once saw Donald Trump advertising turkey. The Trump building, at 72 storeys, will easily become one of Toronto’s tallest buildings when it opens in 2009, and this is no small feat. It will blend right in at the Financial District, where most of Toronto’s other tallest skyscrapers are located (and right near the CN Phallus).
Trump is one of a long line of developers about to open five-star hotels in Toronto (also including the Hazelton, Four Seasons, Ritz-Carlton, and Shangri-La). And if you know the Donald, you know he won’t shy away from some healthy competition (*cough* Rosie *cough*). You also know he won’t skimp on the expenses. The project will cost an anticipated $550 million. For Trump that’s not much at all. In fact, he’s probably already made the money back in the time it’s taken you to read this. -R.T.
