hile it’s not an elite members-only club (as its name might infer) the City Club Hotel is not for the average tourist. For example, they have a no fanny-pack-in-lobby rule and you won’t be admitted if you are wearing an ‘I Love NY t-shirt. All jokes aside, what was once a ‘private political club’ (I know, it sounds very suspicious) the Hotel housed both Republican and Democrat affairs as early as 1904 when the building was completed. The original layout of the building was left in tacked when the City Club Hotel took it over.
Since then, the space has been transformed into an upscale boutique hotel that offers top-drawer lodgings and service for everyone (even you, Fanny-pack Frank). The folks at City Club Hotel want you to feel like you’ve come home when you step into its luxurious lobby so the hotel boasts a professional staff that are friendly and accommodating.
The hotel's ‘New American Classic’ décor, was designed by Jeffery Hilhuber, who favored a palette of elegant beige, brown and blue. Each room fuses modern comfort and luxury with traditional elegance. Three Grand Duplex suites, each with a private terrace, are also available, though not without a hefty dip into your savings. -L.D.
