f you’re ‘in between paychecks’, stop reading now. You can’t afford it, trust me.
In the holy trinity of posh Yorkville hotels (Four Seasons, Park Hyatt, and the Windsor Arms), the Windsor Arms is the most expensive. And that’s saying a lot. But the Windsor Arms actually benefits from this; not only is it the most expensive hotel, it’s also the most exclusive. This is the hotel of choice for the majority of A-listers in town for the Toronto International Film Festival, or of top-end rock stars in town for a big concert at the Air Canada Centre.
But what could possibly make it that expensive? How about 24-hour butler service? Have you ever had butler service anywhere? The historical architecture also has more than a little to do with its luxurious image. Built in 1927, the hotel was meant to blend with the University of Toronto’s signature Victorian and neo-Gothic buildings which were then new. It could also have something to do with the fancy restaurant, the Courtyard Café or Club 22, the bar/club in the lobby. Or perhaps it’s the Tea Room, offering one of the most hoity-toity traditional afternoon teas this side of London (England, that is). Of course, the rooms are plenty fancy too, but you’re really just there to be seen.
Alright, you can look again.
