he five-story building in what is now Auberge Bonaparte was built in 1886 and will appeal to those wishing to break free of the reins of standardized hotel chains. A gem in old Montreal, this unique dwelling offers just 30 rooms. Oak doors, polished wood floors and bronze lamps are just some of the items that characterize the hotel's Louis-Phillipe furnishings. Housed within the hotel is the Restaurant Bonaparte, which serves up traditional French fare stemming from the finer kitchens of France. The rooms are slightly on the pricey side but to be nestled in the arms of Old Montreal, it's worth it. -L.D
